Karate moves start usually from a standart stance.
A Chita start its chase from a standart stance.
A baseball player is only ready to hit the ball when he/she in his/her stance.
When I want to think, be productive, learn or whatever, I get into my Stance.
Let's look at a structure of some situation.
You're doing something. You've prepared some documents. You feel you're ready. Then something happen. You don't know what to do next. You are stuck. You go watch some TV. Next day you forget about it and start all over again.
This scenario happens almost everyday to me.
Nothing is wrong in this scenario, except the event of forgetting. It's ok to be stuck. It only means you didn't think of something. Everyone don't think of everything. It's really OK.
But.
You do need to know that you
will forget stuff. When you'll forget it, you need to not do all the work you've done so far. Knowing my Stance helps me not doing extra work.
Googling "Stance define" gives:
The way in which someone stands, esp. when deliberately adopted (as in baseball, golf, and other sports); a person's posture.
I look at it as a mindset. It's a structured mindset.
Usually when I'm confronted with an issue, I think of several possibilities to address it. This is the start of my Stance. When I'm out of focus, I zoom out back to my Stance.
Things I do to get back to my stance:
1. Read a book - don't worry. You don't have to read the whole book. I just read few pages and then a new idea pops into my mind.
2. Write what I need to do.
How I Feel when in my Stance?
I am
relaxed.
I
want to address the issue.
I
dream how it will look/feel when it will be ready/over/done.
